Adapt-g
Adaptive General Cognitive Ability Assessment
A computer adaptive test (CAT) built on Item Response Theory that tailors question difficulty in real time — suitable across a wide ability range and for remote, unsupervised administration.
Adaptive Cognitive Assessment
The Adapt-g is a computer adaptive test (CAT) built on Item Response Theory (IRT) principles. Unlike fixed-form tests, it draws on a large item bank and tailors the difficulty of each question in real time to the respondent's demonstrated ability level.
This makes it suitable across a wide ability range and for remote, unsupervised administration. While it measures the same constructs as the GRT2, the two tests are not directly comparable; the Adapt-g is designed to measure across a broader range of ability levels and draws on a considerably larger and more varied item bank.
What It Measures
Verbal Reasoning
Vocabulary, class membership, and the ability to perceive and reason with verbal concepts
Numerical Reasoning
Number series, numerical transformations, and the relationships between numbers
Abstract Reasoning
Recognition of patterns and similarities between shapes and figures — intellectual potential independent of educational attainment
General Mental Ability (g)
A composite score representing overall reasoning capacity across all three domains
When to Use the Adapt-g
Broad-Range Selection
Selection across a broad range of ability levels and role types, from entry-level to highly complex positions.
Remote Unsupervised
Designed for use when remote, unsupervised administration is required — adaptive item selection reduces item exposure risk.
Efficient Alternative
Use when a time-efficient, adaptive alternative to the GRT2 is needed without compromising on measurement precision.
Report Options
Comprehensive reporting with profile charts, narrative descriptions and candidate-friendly feedback.
Standard Report
Profile charts and a narrative description of the respondent's performance across all subtests and the general mental ability composite.
Feedback Report
A candidate-friendly feedback report summarising reasoning ability results.
Results Summary Spreadsheet
Spreadsheet providing a comparative overview across candidates for group-level analysis.
Administration Options
Online Supervised
Digital administration under supervision
Online Unsupervised
Remote administration via a generated link
Duration: Approximately 20–25 minutes (adaptive; varies by respondent)
