TTB2 & TTBi
Technical Test Battery & TTB Item Banked
An essential assessment for anyone being considered for roles where technical ability is a job requirement — designed for selection into technical, engineering and trainee roles, ensuring technical concepts can be put to practical use.
Technical Aptitude for Real-World Roles
The Technical Test Battery (TTB2) is designed for selection into technical, engineering and trainee roles. It assesses abilities relevant to technical training, maintenance and applied mechanical work — ensuring that technical concepts can be put to practical use. When used alongside the General Reasoning Test Battery (GRT2), the TTB2 provides a comprehensive evaluation of general and technical ability.
Building on the established success of the TTB2, the TTBi provides the same subtests and the same value, but draws from a large pool of assessment items. This preserves the integrity of the assessment in unsupervised administration where candidate links are sent remotely.
What It Measures
Mechanical Reasoning
Understanding mechanical principles and how physical systems operate.
Spatial Reasoning
Visualising objects in three dimensions and matching 3D forms to 2D representations.
Visual Acuity
Following complex visual pathways and identifying detail accurately — particularly relevant to circuitry, wiring and technical repairs.
The full battery may be administered, or individual subtests can be used separately depending on assessment needs.
When to Use the TTB2 or TTBi
Technical & Engineering Selection
Select candidates into technical and engineering roles with confidence in their applied aptitude.
Apprentices & Trainees
Identify candidates with the foundation needed to succeed in apprentice and trainee programmes.
Mechanical & Spatial Roles
Well-suited to roles requiring strong mechanical reasoning and spatial visualisation.
Technical Detail & Precision
Appropriate for positions involving close technical detail and visual precision, such as circuitry and repairs.
